The kwanza (ISO 4217 code: AOA) has been the official currency of the Republic of Angola since 1999. The Banco Nacional de Angola manages the kwanza's exchange regime through a managed floating system, where the rate is influenced by the supply of and demand for foreign currency in the formal market. The kwanza's value against the dollar, euro and rand varies through the day according to market conditions and BNA monetary-policy decisions.
